Niveh Tehila…prayers and poems and letters that he sent or that were sent to the exalted philanthropist Sir Moses Montefiore. The book was printed by the noted publisher R' Yosef Katz of London after Sir Moses' journey to Morocco. It includes amazing praises for Montefiore. The backdrop of this book was Montefiore's Herculean efforts in the wake of the blood libel against the Jews of Morocco in 1864, following the death of the Spanish consul. Sir Moses Montefiore traveled to Morocco and met with Sultan Mohammed IV, who acquiesced to Montefiore's request to release the imprisoned and to ensure that the Jews have status equal to other Moroccan citizens. Printed in Lemberg, 1868. 26, 24, 72, 80, 38 pages. Book divided into four sections: Sha'ar Hatefilah; Sha'ar HaTodah; Sha'ar Hazimrah; Sha'ar HaYeshuah – with a separate title page for each section. The edges have not been cut uniformly in some places. Stains. Tear in the year on the last page. Overall very fine condition.
