Thick copy with works of history from the Jewish-Roman historian, Josephus Flavius (Yosef ben Matityahu), a scion of the Kohanic line, descended from the Hashmonaim. Printed and published by the Ram Widow & Brothers, edited by Kalman Shulman. 1. Yemei Am Olam, on the ancient Jewish, with a chronicle of the Jews from antiquity until the destruction of the Temples and the land by the Romans. “Copied for the first time into the Hebrew language with introduction and notes.” Vilna 1911. Addition of a long, excited introduction by the publisher. 2. Wars of the Jews [with the Romans], “Copied for the first time into the Hebrew language with introduction and helpful notes.” 2 parts with a separate cover for each. Second edition, Vilna 1884. 252 pages; 59, 368. [1], 394 pages. An exciting historical find from which many of the Rishonim quoted. Stains, well preserved copy in good condition.

Important stamp of ownership: “Yehoshua ben Moshe Aryeh Rubenstein.” Stamps on the cover of the same.
Rabbi Yehoshua Rubenstein (1874-1961) was the son of Rabbi Moshe Aryeh. In 1906 he was appointed rabbi in Pahost (next to Slotzk), in place of his father-in-law, and then he was made rabbi of Baku-Kafkaz.
