פריט 183:
Rare and interesting letter since it’s not on the Rebbe’s letterhead but on that of Mahane Yisrael, the rabbi signed his name where the official stamp of Mahane was supposed to go. In the letter, the Rebbe expresses his thanks on behalf of the “Mishnayot B’al Peh” company. The upper right portion of the letter is missing and so we don’t know the date when the letter was sent. Folding marks and various tears. Good general condition.
The "Mahane Yisrael" was founded by the Rayatz on Sivan 1941. The organization was headed by the Rebbe and his son-in-law Rabbi Menachem Mendel – the last Rebbe served as chairman of the organization's executive committee. The goals of the organization were to influence, through the leadership of its members and their actions, the strengthening of Judaism and the observance of the Torah and the practical commandments, and to stir the hearts of the Israelites and bring them closer to Torah repentance and good deeds. To publish the truth which "Immediately for an answer to complete salvation by our righteous Messiah". The organization did not have membership fees from anyone who wants to be a member of the organization, any Torah observant and observant Jew could register as a member, and his actual actions, under his own leadership and influence on others, are the only corporate tax required. Among the various activities of the organization is the Mishnah B’al Peh Company, to which the Rebbe refers in his letter before us, according to which the six sub-orders were divided among the members (four chapters each), so that all the Shas learned orally during the year. Founded after the Rayatz’s suggestion, it is "purifying the air" by saying and repeating Mishnah at home and outdoors, on the street, in the store, in the subway and in any clean place, and thus to bring about the Mashiach.
