The title page and approbation of the Divrei Chaim have been filled in prettily by hand with a frame. Stamps of ownership of the Admor Rahak Rabbi Eliezer HaLevi Rosenfeld, “residing in Oshpitzin son of the … of Kominka and the … of Sanz”. Stamp from his son (rare, not seen before at auction) the Admor Rabbi Shalom Reuven HaLevi.”
The Admor Rabbi Eleazar HaLevi Rosenfeld of Oshpitzin (1862-1943), “Rabbi Eleazar Oshpitziner”, was the son of the ADmor Rabbi Yehoshua of Kominka and son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Chaim of Sanz (the Divrei Chaim). In 1936 he immigrated to Israel (to Tzfat) and then to Jerusalem, where he established his beit midrash. In 1939 because of health reasons he returned to Poland where he perished in Sosnowitz, where he had been expelled with those of his city. Hy”d
The Admor’s son Rabbi Shalom Reuven (1885-1918) was the son-in-law of his uncle Rabbi Shalom (II) of Kominka. He resided in Oshpitzin but he did not live a long life and died with his sister during the (Spanish) Flu epidemic that ravished the city. In response, the city’s rabbi ordered that male and female orphans be wed and to have the chuppah take place at the cemetery, and the plague abated. Most his sons and grandchildren perished in the Shoah. In her second marriage, his daughter Fradel married the Admor Rabbi Yosef David Rubin of Sasov.
The author, the Admor Rabbi Yehuda Zvi Eichenstein of Rozdil (1791-1848) was the son of Rabbi Moshe of Sombor. He was a student and son-in-law of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Zidichow, and later succeeded him. His son-in-law was Rabbi Yehezkel Halberstam of Sinoa, son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz.
