First section on Genesis and Exodus, by Rabbi Binyamin Zeev Wolff Sofer-Sussmann, rabbi of the Shas company in Pest. Published by his son Rabbi Fishel Sofer, rabbi of Tschus. [3], 230 leaves. May be missing one leaf from the beginning of the book—not from the body of the work. Approbations from Rabbi Simcha Bonem Sofer, Av Beit Din of Pressburg, father-in-law of the publisher Rabbi Koppel Reich, Av Beit Din of Pest, and Rabbi Sussmann-Sofer, Av Beit Din of Paks.
Old binding, worn spine. Lone pages are detached, stains, overall good condition.
The back of the title page has the publisher’s stamp (the author’s son): “Fishel Sofer Rabbi of Tschus”. Rabbi Mordechai Efraim Fishel Sussmann-Sofer (1867-1942) was the rabbi of Kastelani and then Tschus, and then was made Ra’avad of Greater Budapest. He was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yaakov Koppel Reich, Av Beit Din of Budapest.
The blank binding leaf has an antique note: “This book belongs to
Mordechai Zvi Steiner of Bonihod in Tolna” and a stamp in Latin characters with the name “David Steiner”—we could not precisely determine the identity.
