The title page has a three-line handwritten dedication, addressed to Rabbi Shlomo Kalman Kash(?), signed “the young…Yosef Zvi Sofer, the author’s son”.
The binding leaves have notes on births and the stamp of the chassid Rabbi Eliezer David Friedman.

Rabbi Yosef Zvi Sofer (1860-1930) was the Av Beit Din of Hajdúsámson, a student of the Shevet Sofer, son-in-law of Rabbi Amram Blum the Av Beit Din of Berettyóújfalu. He was the author of the monumental work “Igrot Sfarim” on the biography of Rabbi Akiva Eiger and the Chatam Sofer and his family. He also published his father’s works (the Machaneh Chaim, an important student of the Chatam Sofer).
