Complete set of Tanach Mikra’ot Gedolot with the revolutionary commentary “HaTorah v’HaMitzvah” on the Torah and “Mikra’ei Kodesh” on Prophets and Ketuvim by the gaon Rabbi Meir Leibush (the Malbim). This commentary is also on midrashei halacha mechilta (for Exodus), Safra (Vayikra), and Sifrei (Bamidbar and Dvarim). The midrashim are attached here to their respective chumashim. – Bereishit: first edition, Warsaw 1876. 234, [2] leaves. The bibliographic listings note another 3 pages at the end but they are not in this copy and it seems possible not even in the original because the listed pagination is based on a later stereotype edition. This copy has 12 additional leaves with prayers for shabbat (nusach Sfard). With a table of moladim for 1884-9. Blessings of the haftarah appear handwritten.
– Exodus: with Mechilta and notes of the Gra for the Mechilta (from a manuscript). First edition, 1877. [2], 608; [12], 448-454; 50 pages. At the end is Megillat Esther (special title page) with Rashi’s commentary and Siftei Chachamim and Targum Sheni, and the Malbim’s commentary. Warsaw 1878.
– Vayikra: published separately and not as part of a set, first edition of this format—Warsaw 1875. Even prior the commentary for Vayikra was published without the words of the chumash (with the mechilta). Part 1: Vayikra-Shmini, [2], 224, [4], 4-13, 12 leaves with prayers for shabbat (nusach Sfard). – Dvarim: ostensibly the first edition—1880. 545, [12] pages; [37]-46; [47]-67 leaves; 12 leaves with prayers for shabbat. At the end of the book are Megillot Eicha and Kohelet (with targum, Rashi’s commentary, and Siftei Chachamim).
