Sefer Shitah Mekubetzet by Rabbi Bezalel Ashkenazi, on tractate Bava Kama. Printed in Zholkva, 1810. 142 leaves. Some on bluish paper. Stable binding. Stains. Good overall condition.
On the title page, the signatures and stamps of the Admor the holy Rav Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam of Stropkov.
The Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam (1873-1954) was the second Admor of Stropkov, the son of Rabbi Avraham Shalom Halberstam, the first Admor of Stropkov who appointed him the young Rav of Stropkov. After his father’s passing, he succeeded him as the Admor of Stropkov. He survived the Holocaust yet lost his entire family except for a single granddaughter.
In 1945, he traveled to Zurich and reached the USA in 1946. He began reestablishing the Chassidut with a Beit Midrash he founded in Williamsburg. Some of his Divrei Torah were printed in 1956 in Sefer Divrei Menachem. In 2019 it was reprinted with his biography and more.
