“Synagogues and batei midrash were burned…and the worst was the Great Synagogue of Rabbi Yehuda HaChassid”. Pamphlet with prayers and kinot declared by the Supreme Beit Din in Jerusalem, at the end of the Shloshim for the destruction of the Jewish Quarter and the burning of Torahs in Jerusalem, 1948.
“And the enemy placed a large number of heavy cannons around Jerusalem with their muzzles open and aimed at the Jewish settlement”. Published 30 days after the fall of the Jewish Quarter into Jordanian hands—the invading army focused their destruction especially on the Hurva synagogue of Rabbi Yehuda HaChassid and the Tiferet Yisrael Ruzhin synagogue. There are various prayers, slichot, kinot, and a long maamar from the Ga’avad Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank.
