A volume containing section X and XI of the famed book Sdei Chemed by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Chizkiya Medini of Hebron, which is mostly a kind of encyclopedia on Talmudic methodology alphabetically ordered. With indices and a list of subscribers.
First edition in the author’s lifetime – Warsaw, 1901. Section X: Kuntres Haklalim. Pe’at HaSdei Chemed, Ma’arechet I. 99, [1] leaves. Section XI: a separate title page. Kuntres Haklalim. Pe’at HaSdei Chemed, Ma’arechet II-IV. [1], 55, 17, 39 leaves. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod p. 154 of the additions. Between the sections, a list of subscribers that includes important public figures such as the philanthropist Mrs. Farcha Sassoon (?) of Calcutta and more.
Spinless binding. Stains. Moth perforations. Good overall condition.
On the flyleaf, an ownership notation with the name "הק’ נפתלי צבי שלזינגר פק"ק פ"ב (פרשבורג)…" (see below). Inside the book he wrote down his scholarly comments on the margins of the leaves, significant and interesting comments indicating his Torah greatness and mastery of Psika books, even of leading Acharonim.
The Gaon Rabbi [Yosef] Naftali Zvi Schlesinger (born in 1891) the son of Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh [Leibush]. Was a disciple of the Da’at Sofer of Pressburg. Author of Birkot Horai on the Torah and Mo’adim and publisher of the book Vayechi Yosef by Rabbi Yosef Greenwald of Papa. Perished in the Holocaust.
