Printed by Elimelech Slovatzki – First, rare edition [Frankfurt am Main] 1891. [2], 67. [1] pp. Seder HaGett VeHaChalitzah is written with practical instructions in Judeo-German. 

 

Appearing on pp. 58-67 is a lengthy responsum pertaining to the Gett of Kleve, the well-known controversy that threatened to divide the Jewish community in half. The author supports the Psak Din of the contemporary rabbis of Frankfurt, who rendered the Gett kosher and copies a responsum from an old manuscript by Rabbi Natan Mez that he had found. Rabbi Natan Mez had studied the subject, writing down his conclusions. 

After the title page, a printed blessing by the author for the 70th birthday of  Rabbi Azriel Hildesheimer, the head of the Beit Midrash for rabbis in Berlin. 

Some taping for reinforcement along the spine. Detached leaves. Stains. Good overall condition. 

On verso of the binding, a notation: "לה"ו בנימין באמבערגער" and an additional notation on the title page in a foreign language by a member of the Bamberger family of rabbis.
