Section III of the polemic book Chemdat Yamim, on the Mo’adim. A book dealing with customs and Halachot, with Kabbalistic moral rebuke, written in special, clear language, inspiring the reader to Avodat Hashem. Printed for the first time in Izmir in 1731 by Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Algazi who wrote that he had copied it from an old, anonymous manuscript he had purchased near the city of Safed. The author’s identity is unknown. The Yavetz assumed the author was Nathan of Gaza who was a Sabbatean and therefore, the Yavetz spoke out against the book.
Printed in Zholkva in Amsterdam fonts – 1763. [119] leaves. Stains. Ancient leather-covered wooden binding with remnants of buckles. Spine reinforced with tape. Varied blemishes. Creases. Fair-good overall condition.
Ownership notations on the flyleaf and title page with the names Moshe Chaim Weinstein, Yeshaya Ber Rosenberg of Kortzog. "I bought it from the principal of the general school of Budapest for 50 forint… Avraham Naftali Zvi Roth". On his ex-libris, his title is also "Rav professor … previously Rav of the Chessan state". "Yeshaya Schwartz".
