Receipt from the Vaad Klali Knesset Yisrasel Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes, Jerusalem, Nissan 1948, signed by the Admor Rabbi Gedalya Moshe of Zvhil, “ben HaRav Shlomo Goldman”, and 2 official stamps of his in Hebrew and English.

The Admor Rabbi Gedalya Moshe of Zewil was born in 1887, the son of Rabbi Shlomo of Zewil. After his father immigrated to Israel, he was appointed rabbi of Zewil in place of his father. He preserved the community at great personal sacrifice, until he was arrested and sent to 7 years hard labor in Siberia. In 1937, only a few years after his release, he moved to Israel and joined his father.

After his father’s death he was appointed his successor, but he only managed to run the community for a few years, dying in 1949. His grave serves as a pilgrimage site today, with a special segula for Monday-Thursday-Monday visits to ensure success.
