Buyer's premium:

Sefer Karti v’Palti, a pilpul work on the Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De’ah by the gaon Av Beit Din Rabbi Yonatan Eibeschitz. [2], 200 leaves. Paper is a little blue, worming damage, binding partially detached, overall fair condition.

The blank binding leaf has a note of ownership: “Chanany ben Sahak Mordechai Dov Halberstam in Krestor”—the Admor of Gorlitz. There are also 2 page cuttings with chiddushei torah handwritten and inserted, probably from the Admor who owned the book, as well as a few corrections in the margins in the body of the work. Additional note on the binding leaf of a woman’s name and her mother, husband, and his father—probably for a prayer—dated Iyar 1996.

The Admor Rabbi Mordechai Dov Halberstam of Gorlitz (1905-1979) was the son of the Admor Rabbi Elisha of Gorlitz, grandson of the Admor Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Hornosteipel. He survived the Shoah and immigrated to Israel. He was a student of the Rav of Tchevin. He published his grandfather’s works “Baruch She’amar” and “Shut Emek She’elah from the Ramad of Hornosteipel.”
