Polemical letter regarding the prevention of distribution money by parents who send their sons to the free system of education, in the handwriting and signature of Rabbi Yoel Ashkenazi to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonenfeld – Tiberias 1929.

In the letter, Rabbi Yoel, who was in charge of the division of money for the Galicia Kollel in the Tiberias area, says that he stopped the handout to two parents who sent their children to free education, and he asks Rabbi Yosef Chaim to send a letter confirming this provision for him to withstand parental pressure. An exciting relic of the turbulent days of struggle between the old and new settlements.

Duplicate paper, 2 columns, 14x22cm. Filing holes, light creases, good condition.

Rabbi Yoel Ashkenazi (1884-1970) married the daughter of Rabbi Noah Weinberg, the grandson of the Yesod HaAvodah of Slonim. He settled in Tiberias and was an important Slonim chassid there. He was a talmid chacham and storyteller, and many tzaddikim would come to him to hear him tell his stories.
