Lot 029:
Shulchan Aruch, Orech Chayyim with the commentary Chakei Chayyim and Yoreh De’ah with the commentary Chakei Da’at, “by the author Rabbi Moshe Yekutiel Kaufman Kohen…he is the son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Ivli of Kalish, the author of the Magen Avraham on the Shulchan Aruch. An interesting work on the Shulchan Aruch, a brief elucidation on halachot organized alphabetically by subject and not by the simanim of the Shulchan Aruch (with the addition of a table in order to match his words with the simanim of the Shluchan Aruch). With an exegesis and sources, prayers and segulot (some kabbalistic—see in the halachot of Rosh Hashanah a prayer for parnasa “which I copied from the Siddur of the Ari”), and a LaMenatz’each in the shape of a menorah. In this copy there is the siddur which, according to the Mifal Bibliographia, was added to only some copies (the National Library only has it in 1 of the 3 copies which it possesses). Introduction, approbations from rabbis of the period and a poem from the author’s father-in-law, the Magen Avraham. First edition.
There is a title page before the approbations, introduction, and siddur (partially missing, taped to an additional page which hides the inscription on the back side), separate title page for each section, page numbering is erroneous in the original printing. [21], 7, [2], 11-20, 159, [2], 160-168, 163-165, 172-190, [1] (here an additional leaf from the introduction was accidentally bound, though it also appears in its proper place with slight changes); Yoreh De’ah: 93 leaves (in the original there were 94, the last leaf is missing). 14.5cm. Stains, a few moth holes, old half-calf binding is a little worn. First title page is defective and the last leaf is missing. Overall good condition. Rare for its condition, especially given the inclusion of the complete siddur.
A number of antique glosses and signatures of ownership: “Yehuda Leib…”
