Travel ticket, perforated, for the Sighet railway—Sato-Mare, for the celebration of the Admor of Kroly(!) shlita to become the Admor of Satmar. 12th Adar 1934.

The rabbinate in Satmar was the third position held by the Admor after Kroly and Irshava. Upon the death of Rabbi Elizer David Greenwald (the Keren LeDavid) in 1928, the process began to crown the Admor as Av Beit Din of Satmar, which culminated five years later (1933) in his crowning.

According to tradition it is narrated that the inhabitants of Kroly accompanied the Rabbi in the middle of the night and marched by foot in the heavy snow piled up on the road for many miles while weeping over their parting from their revered Rabbi. This is an amazing remnant of those momentous days.

6×3.5cm. Small travel perforation (validation), good condition.
