Lot 194:
Tshuva on additions made by the Gaon of Mezőcsát (of his own accord) to the psak of the beit din of Galanta, with the approbation of Rabbi Feivel Fleuth.
Background: in 1891, upon the death of Rabbi Shimon Friedman (rabbi of Galanta), Rabbi Moshe Feldman, the deceased’s son-in-law, was appointed to succeed him. Some of the community did not accept him and the community was plunged into a strong controversy. Rabbi Shraga Zvi Tenenbaum led the beit din which disqualified Rabbi Feldman, and those who opposed him brought Rabbi Yosef Zvi Dushinsky to the city (later Ga’avad of the Eida Charedit), who led the community in parallel to that led by Rabbi Feldman. The booklet was printed by supporters of Rav Feldman in response to the psak din of Rav Shraga Zvi Tenenbaum, with the approbation of Rabbi Fleuth, the talmid muvhak of the Chatam Sofer.
Very rare polemical booklet, hasn’t appeared at auction before. [1] leaf, 12 pages, [1] leaf. Very good condition.
