Lot 156:
Sefer Maskil el Dal, the famed book by the disciple of the Chatam Sofer, Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein of Kolomyia. Volume with the first three sections of the book, first edition printed in the author’s lifetime. With an approbation by Rabbeinu of Sanz Rabbi Chaim Halberstam, who praises the author: "כי ידעתי מאז את הרב הצדיק הזה שכל כוונתו לשם שמים…". Old blemished binding. Some tears, stains and other blemishes. Good overall condition.
Section I – Ungvar, 1867. Originally, [4], 86, [2] leaves. In this copy, 2 leaves at its end are missing.
Section II – Lemberg, 1868. [4], 103, [1] leaves.
Section III – Lemberg, 1869. [6], 100 leaves.
On each of the sections, a stamp of the author’s son Rabbi Baruch Bendit Lichtenstein. Ownership stamps of Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu Margaliot of Tshitsha and a notation handwritten and signed by him indicating he received the book from his dear father-in-law Rabbi Chaim Shimon Alter Presiler. An additional notation on the guard leaf: "הר"ר עזריאל ליביש בן לא"א מו"ר מו"ה יצחק יעקב סגל ווייס מק"ק טריבישאן יצ"ו…".
