Lot 144:
Two envelopes that were sent from Vilna by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky. One was sent in 1917, bearing the official logo of Rabbi Chaim Ozer and the other was sent in 1929, bearing the logo of Vaad Hayeshivot. The envelopes were sent to Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook in Jerusalem.
The first envelope was sent in 1917, the height of World War I. One can only imagine what the correspondence between the two Jewish leaders contained in these troubled times. We did not manage to determine whether the notation on the envelope was handwritten by Rabbi Chaim Ozer.
12.5X15 cm. Greenish paper.
Tear of opening on the left. Good condition.
The second envelope was sent in 1919 by Vaad Hayeshivot in Vilna, which was founded by the Chafetz Chaim and Rabbi Chaim Ozer.
12.5X15.5 cm.
Opening marks. Good condition.
Please note that the envelopes do not contain any letters!
Please refer to Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky.
