Rabbi Ben Zion Meir Hai Uziel, son of Rabbi Yosef Raphael (1880-1953) author of the Mishpatei Uziel, a leading disciple of the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Shaul Yaakov Elyashar, the Yissa Beracha. In his youth, his father passed away abd he was forced to work to support his mother and brother; yet nothing affected his love of the Torah. This is what he wrote referring to those days of hardship: "ימי שלוותי ואושרי היו קצרים. He was a Ravi in Jaffa in 1911, in Salonika in 1921 in place of Rabbi Yaakov Meir and Rabbi Emmanuel Brodo (temporarily), and then served as rav in in Tel Aviv (1923). In 1939 he was appointed the Rishon LeZion.
