Rabbi Yaakov did not agree to print his books during his lifetime; many times his eldest son asked for his permission to print them but he said he would appear to his son in a dream after his death and would tell him if his books found favor with God and if so, he could print them. After his passing, he did appear to his son in a dream and told him he could print them. Most were printed between 1884-1888 in Jerusalem by his sons (Chachmei HaMizrach, p. 174).
