Lot 55:
Seder Ashmoret Kaboker, an interesting book by Rabbi Aharon Berachya ben Rabbi Moshe of Modena (lived and operated in the 16th/17th century), Mizmorim and Tikkunim for all year round including Sabbath and festivals, which he introduced at his father’s synagogue in Modena in 1617. At its end, prayers for the sick, "Seder for the death of a great man", "For the Chupah", "For a sick person who got cured"! and more.
Printed in Venice, 1720 (on the colophon: 1721). 132 leaves. Although, on the title page, the author is titled "נר"ו" (indicating he was still alive), actually he had passed away many years earlier. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. On verso of the title page, a poem by the author with an acrostic of his name; on leaf 2, a poem praising the author by the legislator Rabbi Chananya Marun.
Original leather binding? blemished spine. Minor blemishes to the edges. Stains and wear. Some moth damage and tears. Some moth perforations. Good overall condition. Has not been examined leaf after leaf to see whether leaves are missing.
Inside the book, many notations and comments in ancient script. Corrections, glosses and markings. On the title page, a notation in matching script: "קנין כספי יעקב שמואל.. ב"ר יהושע חיים פינצי מפירארא".
