Mishnat Chassidim, a Kabbalistic book by the great Kabbalist Rabbi Emmanuel Chai Ricci. Published for the first time with the Ta’am Etzo commentary by Rabbi Pinchas Eliyahu Horowitz of Vilna, author of Sefer Habrit. At its end, a lengthy folding leaf – a sketch of the holy Ilan. Printed in Krakow, 1889. [4], 99, [1] leaves. 

Approbations by leading Admorim. At its end, a list of subscribers, many of them appearing with their nicknames (Itshe, Leiser, Yekl, etc.). 

Old binding with taped spine. Stains. Some other blemishes. Good overall condition. 

2 signatures on the title page: " יקר כץ זילביגער / הק’ ישראל יקר כץ זילביגער" and another notation handwritten by his son-in-law: "זה הספר הקדוש יש לי מעזבון כבוד מורי חותני הרב המופלא הצדיק, מו"ה ישראל יקר הכהן זללה"ה. הק’ יוסף חיים ביגעלאיזן מבראניב יום ה’ עקב תרנ"א לפ"ק אושפצין".

Rabbi Yosef Chaim Bigelizen of Baranov-Oshpitzin (1858-1940) the mythological book dealer from New York, the father of the famed Bigelizen family. Was a Belzer Chassid and the son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael Yakar Hacohen Zilbiger of Oshpitzin. 

The author, the Dayan Kabbalist Rabbi Raphael Emmanuel Chai Ricci (1687-1743) became famous for his work the Mishnat Chassidim, an important Kabbalistic book printed twice during his lifetime and then in many more editions. He was praised by leading rabbis. He authored many other books including Aderet Eliyahu, Hon Ashir, and more. His home in Jerusalem was later used by Rabbeinu Chaim ben Atar for his famed yeshiva, Knesset Yisrael.
