The Admor Rabbi Yisrael Alter, the Beis Yisroel of Ger (1895-1977) was the son of the Admor the Imrei Emes of Ger. He was the 5th Admor of the Ger dynasty and was responsible for restoring the Chassidut after the Holocaust. He was a leading public figure in the Chareidi world of Israel. He is known by the name of his writings, the Beis Yisroel, which were published after his passing. In addition to his role as the Rebbe and leader of Ger, he also served as head of Mo’etzet Gedolei HaTorah. In this capacity, he had great influence on the conduct of Agudas Yisroel, which was founded by his father. He was known as holy and pure, sharp, generous, and a wonder worker, one of the greatest Admorim in the world.
