Interesting notebook of the Mishkenot Yisrael Synagogue of the Mishkenot neighborhood (Nachla’ot of today) with detailed listings of the years 1897-1910
The notebook notes people who were honored with an Aliyah, for every week during the years 1897-1910, referring to dozens of people, residents of the neighborhood and visitors. Often, their donation is also listed, the currency being Bishlik or Grush.
From time to time, the revenues and expenses of a certain event are also listed. For example, the event of Siyum Mishnayot of 1797: אור ליום ד ט"ו אד"ב תרנ"ז היה סיום הש"ס בעליית ביהמ"ד משכנות". Beneath it, expenses of the feast: semolina a Rotil and a half, wheat, meat 21 anses (a fair amount…), onion and pepper, coal three Rotil, salt a Rotil, for the baker".
A fascinating item for scholars of Jerusalem and its first neighborhoods.
