“Proposal of a modern solution for the Jewish question” by Dr. Theodor Herzl. Published by Ha’am. The book won its author the title “The Prophet of the State,” who presented in a concise, clear, and practical manner the Jewish problem. Also suggested an innovative and policy-oriented solution to the problem facing the Jews, namely, anti-Semitism. Upon its publication, it was both supported fiercely and strongly criticized, but over time became an important milestone in the history of Zionism. It was written in German and, at first, only 500 copies were printed. But within a few months it became a best-seller, and was translated into English, Russia, Romanian, Bulgarian, French, Yiddish—and of course, into Hebrew. Since its first printing (!896), it has been translated into 20 languages and was published in dozens of editions. The copy before us is from the first edition published in Yiddish. | Dust jacket, front binding is disconnected and the back is missing. First page disconnected. A few tears in the marings. 67 pages, 22cm. Generally ok to good condition.
