Buyer's premium:

A long, two-page letter in the handwriting and with the signature of Rebbetzin Sarah Rokeach of Belz. Dated 2 nd Tammuz 1972. To her close friend. The letter was written when she was staying in Europe, and she writes freely about her experiences, her homesickness and even about the diet she began. She notes that she was delayed in sending the letter as she did not want the messenger to see what she was writing, and she had go to the post officer herself. She ends "From me your friend who loves you very much and misses you, Sarah". A fascinating glimpse into the life of rabbinic aristocracy. | Rebbetzin Sarah Rokeach is a member of the ultra-orthodox nobility. A daughter of the Rebbe Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Hager of Vizhnitz and wife of the Rebbe Rabbi Yissachar Dov Rokeach of Belz. Two of the largest chassidic courts in the world. Her wedding was described as the largest chassidic wedding in the post-Holocaust era. The Police estimated that some twenty thousand people attended the wedding ceremony and the Israeli media covered the event extensively. The Rebbetzin is very involved in the Chassidut and even blesses the chassidim. She was recently documented conducting a tisch in the house of a relative. | Fold marks. | [2] leaves, 22 cm each.
