Lot 155:
A manuscript of Maimonides’s commentary on the Mishnah on the order of Moed. Tractates: Shabbat, Eiruvin, Pesachim, Shekalim, Yoma, Succah, Beitza, Rosh Hashana, Ta’anit, Megillah, Moed Katan and Chagiga. It is interesting to note that the names of the tractates in the manuscript: Yona, Ta’anit and Moed Katan are written differently than how they are usually written nowadays. With additions, corrections and omissions on the page. The manuscript is written in Judeo-Arabic, and Arabic words appear in it. As the book was originally written by Maimonides. The manuscript was written in sparkling, high-quality ink on thick and top-quality paper in the magnificent handwriting of the scribe Mori Shalom Korach. The colophon leaf at the end of the manuscript was ripped out, but due to the potency of the ink a strong impression of the colophon remains in mirror writing on the following leaf "The order of Moed is completed with the help of God…Shabbat Eiruvinetc…twelve tractates…eighty eight chapters…completed and blessed be the one who helped". | Mori Shalom son of YichyeKorach was a sage and scribe, the books he copied out excel in their tremendous precision and their magnificence. Wrote many books. (Encyclopedia L’ChachmeiTeiman page 566). | Wide margins. New leather binding. Worming holes. | 117 leaves. 36×25 cm. Overall condition: Good.
