Lot 44:
Lengthy and warm letter of recommendation – handwritten entirely by Maran the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach – written for the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Sofer, the Rosh Yeshiva of Nezer Yerushalayim – Jerusalem, 1973.
Letter of recommendation, approx. 16 lines handwritten entirely by Rabbeinu. A warm recommendation and blessings in Rabbeinu’s poetic and versatile style: "ופונה אני לאחב"י נדיבי לב ומוקירי תורה די בכל אתר ואתר לקבל ולכבד בסבר פנים יפות האי גברא יקירא…. למען הצל את הישיבה מן המצוקה וגם להרחיב את גבולה…".
Rabbeinu ends his letter with many warm blessings to all those who respond to his call: "והנני בברכה לכל העושים והמעשים שיתברכו מנותן התורה במלא חפני טיבותא… ונזכה לראות בישועת ד’ הגדולה והשלמה על עמו ונחלתו בביאת גואל צדק אמן…".

Maran the Posek Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach (1910-1995) the Rosh Yeshiva of Kol Torah and one of the leading contemporary Poskim. The son of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Leib Auerbach, the Rosh Yeshiva of Sha’ar Hashamayim who was a descendant of the Toldot Yaakov Yosef. For many years was considered Posek Hador. His disciple the Gaon Rabbi Neuwirth compiled his Psakim in the famed book Shemirat Shabbat Kehilchatah. He was beloved by all sectors of the population, a fact that was reflected in his funeral which was attended by approx. 300,000 people.
