An airletter, in the handwriting and with the signature of the Rebbe of Toldot Aharon, Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Kahn. The letter is dated 26 Iyar 5728 – 1958 (according to the postal stamp). The letter is addressed to Rabbi Zvi Schwartz of Brazil, who appears to be one of the supporters of the Chassidut. The Rebbe writes: “And I come to give thanks for the support and encouragement of my son Shmuel Yaakov [the current Toldot Avraham Yitzchak Rebbe] who is in great poverty…there is not enough for half of the expenses, and this support revived him”. The Rebbe also asks to exchange the messenger who transfers the money because “the second delivery has also yet to arrive and needless to say, nor has the last months”. The Rebbe showers him with blessings “Health and success, and holy nachas from all of your offspring, one who pursues charity and kindness will find life, charity and honor”. | Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kahn [1914-1996], one of the most important Rebbes and founder of the ‘Toldot Aharon’ Chassidut. After the death of his father-in-law Rabbi Aharon Roth, known as Reb Ahrale, most of the Chassidim decided to appoint his son-in-law as the Rebbe’s successor. During his time as Rebbe the Chassidut flourished greatly and expanded, and centers of the Chassidut were established in Beit Shemesh, as well as in New York. He was considered one of the primary opponents of Zionism, and was known for his sanctity and abstinence. | Overall condition: Very good.
