An interesting letter, in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Naftali Zilberberg, known as Rabbi Naftali Warsawer or the Tzadik of Warsaw. The letter is dated 24 Cheshvan 5763 [1903]. Sent to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld. In the letter, he asks Rabbi Sonnenfeld to pray and even to send messengers (in exchange for payment) to the Western Wall, and even states the type of messengers (Torah scholars, Godfearing and members of Kollel Warsaw) and other matters. | Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Naftali Zilberberg [1850-1930], son of Rabbi Avraham Binyamin Beinush Av Beit Din of Kutno and Virshov. One of the foremost Rabbis of Warsaw, a disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter and Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveichik author of the Beit HaLevi. Had a close relationship with the Netziv of Volozhin and the Chafetz Chaim, as well as with the Avnei Nezer and the Sfat Emet of Gur. He wrote many books on matters of halacha, and was very active in strengthening religious practice, especially Shabbat observance. He brought the works of the Maharal Tzintz to print, as well as the works of his father Rabbi Avraham Binyamin Av Beit Din of Kutno and Virshov, and the works of his grandfather the Kutno Gaon author of the Zayit Ra’anan. | Folding holes.
