A long letter of approximately 41 lines in the handwriting of Rabbi Naftali HaCohen Schwartz of Viseu to the Gaon of Brasov Rabbi David Sperber. Regarding printing books and more. Rabbi Naftali HaCohen Schwartz (1846-1897) was a Rabbi and author. Born in the city of Mad where his father and primary teacher, Rabbi Avraham Yeduda Schwartz, served as Rabbi. In 1870, he was ordained to the rabbinate by the author of the Yitav Lev Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum of Sighet, Rabbi Shimon Sofer of Krakow and the Maharam Shik. He moved to Beregszasz and from there to Viseu. He headed his own yeshiva in the village of Viseu. With the death of his father in 1894, he was appointed as Rabbi of Mad, where he established a yeshiva which became one of the largest in Hungary. He died suddenly in 1897 at the young age of 50. Rabbi David Sperber (known as the Gaon of Brasov, 1877-1962) was one of the greatest Romanian poskim in the pre-Holocaust era, author of the Responsa ‘Aprekasta D’Anya’, Av Beit Din of Brasov, a member of the Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah of Aggudat Yisrael in Israel. Written on both sides. Folding marks. Overall condition: Good.
