Yalkut Shimoni two parts. Part one on the Five Books of the Torah. Part two, on Nevi’im and Ketuvim. By Rabbi Shimon HaDarshan of Frankfurt. On the title page of the first part is an impressive copper engraving with pictures of angels and cherubs, the figures of Moshe and Aharon and a depiction of David striking Goliath. A separate floral title page for the second part. Printed in Frankfurt on the Oder [and not Frankfurt am Main – there were two printing presses in the city where the Talmud and other books were printed]. Stamped with the stamp of “Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Weiss of Spinka”. Ownership inscriptions on the title page of the first part, and on the last part of the second part. | The Rebbe Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Weiss [1915-1988], grandson of the author of ‘Chakal Yitzchak’ of Spinka. After the Holocaust, in which he lost his wife and three children, he re-established the Spinka Chassidut. In 1969 he established the Spinka yeshiva in Bnei Brak.
