Auction 17
Lot 292:
More than 50 ancient handwritten pages, including: around 25 ancient pages preserved in readable condition, and dozens of remains from pages. Among them: pages from Tanach, with vowels, ta’amim, and translation; pages in Sefardi handwriting, in Arabic, amulets, and many more. The content of most pages was not checked. | The gluing of older pages to book binding was widespread as a means of strengthening the binding. A special art is required to remove them and return them to their original condition. Over the years, many discoveries have been made from ancient pages that were removed from book binding. Location, sizes, and conditions vary.
