Articles by Yaakov HaBechrechi (Yaakov ben Moshe Bechrech) on the antiquity of niqqud and te’amim, an interesting research work proving the antiquity of ta’amei hamikrah and the Assyrian script. Also includes analysis of testimony by Shmuel David Luzzatto (the Shadal) and his colleagues. Two title pages in Hebrew and an additional one in German. Long introduction by the author. New binding, light stains, overall good condition.

Inscription on the binding and various stamps inside mark this book as having been part of the Strashun library (see below). Stamp: “Estate of Rabbi Shai Fin and his son Dr. Binyamin”.

Rabbi Matityahu Strashun (1818-1886) was a Lithuanian rabbi, a book collector and bibliophile. He founded the Strashun library. He was the son of the well-known Talmudist, Rabbi Shmuel Strashun (the Rashash). Studied under Rabbi Yitzhak of Volozhin and Rabbi Menashe of Iliya.
