The author, Rabbi Moshe Freidiger of Budapest (1818-1897) was the son of Rabbi Pinchas Yehuda Leib of Oban. He was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzhak Leib Sofer (the son of the Ktav Sofer). He refused to be appointed to the rabbinate. He worked for and led the Yerei’im community in Budapest. His sons: Rabbi Avraham (community leader in Budapest); Rabbi Yekutiel Kaufman Frediger of Budapest; Rabbi Pinchas David (son-in-law of the Da’at Sofer).
