After his death, his student the Maggid of Mastricht carried on his legacy, which won him veneration among the latter’s students. He was closely linked to Rabbi Haim Chaikel of Amador, Rabbi Yehiel Michal of Zlatchov, the brothers Rabbi Pinchas Horwitz of Frankfurt (the HaHafla’ah), and Rabbi Shmuel Shmelka of Nicklasburg, and the brothers Rabbi Zusha of Anipoli and Rabbi Elmelech of Luzhansk. They called him “Eved Hashem”. He served as rabbi and rosh yeshiva in Ostrovza, Ritschovel, and Neustatt, known as the Tiferet HaZvi after his main composition.
