The personal passport of Rabbi Avraham Werner, the first chief rabbi of Netanya. The passport was issued on June 12, 1930, when the rabbi was a young man, as can be seen by the passport picture in which he looks young. The passport is of the Government of Palestine, full of many diverse stamps that attest to the rabbi’s extensive public activism. Slightly worn, good overall condition. Rabbi Avraham Werner (1890-1978). Son of Rabbi Simcha Bunim who was a dayan on the Eida Chareidit of Jerusalem. Ordained as a rabbi by his teacher Rabbi David Wilovsky, known as the Ridbaz, who even chose him as a son-in-law. In 1926 he was appointed as rabbi of the agricultural settlements in the Upper Galilee, and he lived in Rosh Pina. For six years he worked to develop and advance the advance the religious affairs and religious education in the settlements in the area, and was in contact with the representatives of Baron Rothschild. In 1932 he was appointed as rabbi of Laurence in the state of Massachusetts, U.S.A. In 1934 he returned to Israel and was appointed as rabbi of Netanya, which had been established five years earlier.
