The Tzaddik Rabbi Aryeh Levin (1885-1969) was the son of Rabbi Binyamin Beinush. He was a mashgiach at the Etz Haim yeshiva (Jerusalem) and a key figure in Jerusalem, known for his righteousness and his chesed. He was known as the Father of the Prisoners (or Rabbi of the Prisoners) because he would, for 25 years during the British Mandate, visit on foot every Shabbat those imprisoned by the British. He studied at the Volozhin yeshiva under Rabbi Refael Shapira, and was certified to the rabbinate by Rabbi Haim Berlin. When the State was founded he established the yeshiva now known by his name, Beit Aryeh. He was the father-in-law of the Posek the Grish Elyashiv, and his descendants are among the Torah sages of our generation, such as Rabbi Haim Kanievsky, Rabbi Yitzhak Zilberstein, and Rabbi Dov Kuk of Tiberias, and many others. Though there are many amazing stories of his chessed, his will dictated that he not be eulogized.

Rabbi Hirsch Pali was the son of Rabbi Avraham Noach. He served as mashgiach at the Hevron Yeshiva during and after the massacre there.
