Addressed to “my friend and rabbi, leader of the Agudas HaRabbanim of the US and Canada”. A recommendation for Rabbi Dr. Karlbach, previous rabbi in Berlin and Baden-Vienna. “This rabbi is an excellent man, a wonderful orator and a yireh shamayim.” Later he mentions a fact that testifies to the man’s greatness: When Rabbi Zeev Gold was president of HaMizrahi in Kovna, an American delegate there had said that one man had increased his respect for the Jewish people, and that man was Rabbi Karlbach. “I am your friend and love you, bless you and respect you, Avraham Dov Beer Kahane Shapira.” Size: 14.5x23cm.

Rabbi Avraham Dov Beer Kahane Shapira (1871-1943) was the last Rabbi of Kovna, a great posek of the 20th century, and a leader of Lithuanian Jewry. He was son-in-law to the Gadol of Minsk, Rabbi Yerucham Yehuda Leib Perlman. His book, Dvar Avraham, was well-known in the yeshiva and posek world. He perished in the Shoah.
