Diwan, poems written in a pretty and unique manner, opens with the words: “I begin to write songs and homilies to Hashem…by Rabbi Yehuda HaLevi on the idea of Shabbat”. There are poems on Mo’ed, Rosh Hashanah, Nashud, Shabbat and chag.
Throughout the book are hundreds of illustrations of animals, plants, and geometric shapes. Colophon: “Written for my good friend Yosef ben Yehi Bam Salam ben Yosef, I the author…[erasure] etc. etc.” Identity of the author has been erased and is unknown. At the end are indices,
496 pages of rare writing not found in other manuscripts from Yemen. Heavy moth damage, no binding. Size 22x11cm.
