Two sections, a commentary on the Adarot of the Arizal, with notes from the kabbalist Rabbi Yaakov Tzemach. Separate title page for the Safra d’Tzni’uta “a commentary by the Ari with a second commentary by one of his unknown students…”, with important Chassidic endorsements: “Rabbi Yevey of Ostraha, Rabbi Yosef Shaul Natanson, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Liska, Rabbi Sender Lifa, Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac of Zidichov, Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum (the Yeitev Lev of Sighet).” Second edition, Sighet 1875. [2], 204 leaves. Worn spine, binding detached, fragile pages, moth holes in a few places, stains, overall fair to good condition.
Title page has a note of ownership: “Ephraim Shmuel Lerner.” Rabbi Ephraim Shmuel Lerner (1879-1962) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai, he served as rosh yeshiva of the Ashkenazi kabbalistic yeshiva Sha’ar HaShamayim in Jerusalem, was a founder of the Sha’arei Chesed neighborhood there, and founded the Gra synagogue there and served there as chazan for many years.
