On the Torah, by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch the Maggid of Nadvorna, a student of the Maggid of Mastrich and the Maggid of Zlatchow. Among his students were Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Zidichov, Rabbi Avraham David of Botchach, and Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kosov, forefather of the Kosov-Vizhnitz dynasty, and more. This book has endorsements from Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berdichev and Rabbi Mordechai of Kremnitz, son of the Maggid of Zlatchow, and is considered a foundational work of chassidut—the Arugat HaBosem quoted the Divrei Haim as saying that a Chassidic avrech must mortgage his streimel to buy this book (see Toldot Arugat HaBosem, p. 111-112). The Divrei Haim said it was forbidden to spend the night in a home without this book (Az Nedabru, vol. 92, p. 48). The Riya of Zidichev really liked this book and studied from it every day (introduction to Likkutei Torah and Shas). Lemberg 1891. [1], 148, [1] leaf. First and last leaves are detached. Dry paper. Worn binding from the period. Overall good condition.
