Darchei Zion, “nice droshim for parshat tzav and the Mishnah of Ben Azai, etc….written by the famous gaon and darshan whose identity is unknown…found in geniza of Naftali HaKohen Av Beit Din of Ungarn, author of the Beit Naftali Shaar Naftali…saved from the teeth of the moths who had eaten it…Avraham Yehuda HaKohen Schwartz zikaron Larishonim…”. First edition, Bratislava 1922. 22 leaves. Bar-Ilan University claims that the author (identified from a manuscript by the bibliographer Yitzhak Yudlov, see catalogue of Agudas Chovevei Judaica, Cheshvan 1989, #366) is Rabbi Moshe ben Eliezer Spitz.
Stains, red page cuttings, other than noted above it is in overall good condition.
The blank leaves have notes and stamps with the names: “Chaim David Schlesinger shob and Shatz in Mogendorf”, “Shob and Shatz in Alt Tura”. “the holy Issachar Dov Menzer of Okova”. “Chaim Zvi Braun”. “the holy Eli HaKohen Berkowitz of Weitzen”, and additional notes in foreign languages. The names were not all checked thoroughly. With receipt of “Chevra Talmud Torah Weitzen Kvitung (Receipts)” from 1939, signed by the gabbay of the Talmud torah.
