Sefer Eshel Migdanot (Eshel – the initials of אלוהיות שכליות לימודיות), a moral, philosophical work in poetic language, by Rabbi Avraham Lichtenstein Av Beit Din of Zolin, the son of Rabbi Eliezer Lipman. First and apparently single edition – Zholkva, 1808. [14] leaves. In the National Library, the book appears, of course, in the Rare Book Collection

Philosophy in poetic language

The entire work, beginning with the title page and the introduction, is written in poetic language. Every line of the text implies many ideas, integrating parts of biblical verses. Alongside the text, there are two elucidations – one lengthy and extended and the other short. On the title page, the author writes:  "…ברזי ורמזי הכתובים, וביסודי הדרושים תורתו של ר"מ.. מעט המעט אספתי מחבורי הגדול תורתו של ר"מ…" referring to the holy Tana Rabbi Meir Baal Haness. The author introduces Mamarim of the Tana at the beginning of each passage. The work Torato shel Ram about which he writes on the title page was apparently never published.

Detached binding. Tears to the edges of some leaves. Some stains. Some moth perforations close to the spine. Good overall condition.

The author Rabbi Avraham Lichtenstein, the on of Rabbi Kalman Av Beit Din of Bialystok. His mother was the daughter of Rabbi Nathan, the brother of the holy brothers Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk and Rabbi Zusha of Anipoli. Authored many books on Halacha and Aggadah. Served as Rav of Zolin, Lida, Volkovisk and more.
