"Sefer Hazohar on the Torah by the Divine Kabbalist Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai… as printed in Kushtandina [1736-1737] practically leaf by leaf…" Rare variant without the glosses by Rabbi Chaim Vital. With the approbation and blessing of the Admor of Chernobyl the holy Rav Rabbi Aharon Twersky. Printed by the partners, grandsons of the Rav of Slavuta the rabbinic Chanina Lipa and the rabbinic Yehoshua Heschel Shapiro in Zhytomyr, 1863. 20 cm.
Volume I: Bereshit. [4], 251, 16 leaves. (The last leaves vary from the copy of the National Library, which ends with leaf 17).
Volume II: Shemot. [1], 280 leaves. In this copy, the title page was completed with a professional photocopy.
Volume III: Vayikra Bamidbar Devarim (with a separate title page) 115, [116]-309, 11 leaves.
Fine matching bindings, apparently original, with a leather spine. Scuffs to the edges. New flyleaves and reinforcements to bindings. Stains (and mold stains on some of section III). Some moth damage. Some minor blemishes. Good overall condition.
Ownership signatures and stamps of Rabbi Avraham Leib Zilberman, the Rav of Safed, and of the famed Chassid Rabbi Eliezer David Friedman.
Rabbi Avraham Yehuda Leib Zilberman (1889-1948) the Chief Rabbi of Safed for thirty years. The grandson of Rabbi Raphael Zilberman who served as the Chief Rabbi of the Ashkenazic community of Safed. Rabbi Zilberman continued the traditions of the rabbis of the Zilberman family and served as a Shali’ach of the Admorim of Boyan for lighting the bonfire on the roof of Rashbi’s gravesite on Lag BaOmer.
The Chassid Rabbi Eliezer David Friedman (1929-2020) the son of Rabbi Yosef Yehoshua and son-in-law of the famed Chassid Rabbi Asher Sofer of Tiberius. Av Beit Din of the Belz community of London and founder of the Adat Yisrael community of Melbourne, Australia and more. An elderly Vizhnitz Chassid who was a disciple of the Admor the Imrei Chaim. Immigrated to Israel in 1950 and studied with the Steipler, helping in the editing of the first volume of Kehilot Yaakov. Edited and published many books. The monumental series of books Mipi Sefarim Vesofrim is based in his popular lessons.
