Lot 209:
Tractates Bechorot, Arachin, Kritut and Me’ilah of the Bavli Talmud (including Mishnayot Kinim, Tamid and Midot), with Rashi’s commentary and Tosfot, Rosh and the Rambam’s commentary on the Mishnayot. Copies of the first edition of the Shas that was printed in Slavuta during the years 1801-1806 and was approbated by the holy Rav Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev, Rabbi Shimchon of Shptivka and more (printed at the beginning of Masechet Bechorot). By the printers Rabbi Dove Ber ben Yisrael Segal and Rabbi Dov Ber ben Pesach, in Slavuta during the years 1805-1806. (It should be noted that in the edition of the Shas that was printed by these printers in 1808, the approbation of Baal Hatanya was added).
Large volume (height: 44 cm.), fine condition with especially wide margins. A separate title page for each Masechet. Some of the leaves were printed on bluish paper. 74, 38, 32, 37, 44, [2] leaves including illustrations belonging to the Rambam’s commentary on Masechet Midot and the shape of the second Temple.
Old, healthy binding. Moth damage and perforations. Stains and varied aging blemishes. Tears to the edges of the last 2 leaves, not affecting the text. Good overall condition.
