Chidushei HaRan on Masechet Bava Metzi’a, by Rabbeinu Nissim Girondi, one of the Rishonim. First edition from an ancient manuscript – Dhyrenfurth, 1822. [4], 84, [16] leaves. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod 59.
At its end, as indicated by the title page, he introduces – for the first time ever – Torah novellae by the great Gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger Av Beit Din of Posna, in his lifetime. In addition, novellae by two additional rabbis of the Eiger family and Torah novellae by th editor, the Dayan of Ektzin, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Shlank, who wrote a foreword and a fine poem praising the Ran and his work, beginning with the words: "בקראי דברי הר"ן צלחה עלי רוח השיר".
Approbations by Rabbi Akiva Eiger, the rabbis of Berlin, Rabbi Dov ber Av Beit Din of Ravitsh, Rabbi Moshe Meisel Av Beit Din of Dhyrenfurth and more. In addition, a list of subscribers from the cities of the rabbis who had approbated the book, indicating the willingness of the Jewish people to follow in the footsteps of their leaders.
