The Chazon Ish is the name of the series of halachic books by Gedol Hador Rabbi Avraham Yeshayahu Karelitz, known as the Chazon Ish himself. This series held a central place in yeshiva study and Psikat Halacha, and brought its author acclaim. The series was edited mainly by his brother-in-law, Rabbi Shmuel Greineman. At the beginning, the book was published almost unedited. When the Chazon Ish finished writing a booklet on a certain subject, he would give it to his brother-in-law to print. Using this formula they published 22 volumes (all during the author’s lifetime). The volumes before us are copies of of those rare editions. After the Chazon Ish’s passing in 1954, Rav Greineman began editing the series according to the order of the tractates of the Shas and Shulchan Aruch. This series became the classic edition of the book, and was printed in many editions. Today, the series usually contains 9 volumes.
